Over 2,000 Melaka Peace Lovers Advance Vision of Sustainability in Run for Peace
The Melaka Run for Peace organised by SGM Melaka was held on 14 September 2025 at Stadium Tun Fatimah, Bukit Serindit. A total of 2,077 peace enthusiasts in the signature light blue T-shirts acted as one to convey their commitment to peace and sustainable development, forming a striking blue wave along the route.
The event commenced with a speech by Melaka state exco for entrepreneur development, cooperatives and consumer affairs YB Allex Seah Shoo Chin, who officiated the flag-off at 7:30 a.m. Accompanied by SGM representatives, he joined the participants in embarking on the 5.5-kilometre journey for peace.
In his speech, YB Seah commended SGM’s steadfast efforts in organising Run for Peace for two decades, noting that the initiative reflects the people’s deep yearning for peace. He stressed that peace must be realised through solidarity and continuous action, and emphasised that Run for Peace serves not only as a sporting event but also as a vital platform for promoting public health, social harmony and sustainable development.
Complementing the run were an SDGs-themed exhibition, interactive activities, community clean-up efforts, and environmental workshops, further strengthening public awareness of sustainability and civic responsibility.
Bathed in the morning sunlight, more than 2,000 participants ran with vigour, their steps embodying a collective pledge for peace. Melaka Run for Peace concluded on a note of joy and unity, leaving behind a profound sense of inspiration and hope.
