Kaho PICs Training Course: Empowering Women for an Inclusive Future

The Second National Kaho PICs Training Course successfully concluded a dynamic three-day session, held from 31 October to 2 November 2025 at the SGM Culture Centre. A total of 333 Kaho Group leaders from 13 Malaysian states embarked on a new journey of faith, study and exchange.

EmpowerHer – Listening and Action

Centred on the theme “EmpowerHer – Building Sustainable and Inclusive Communities for a Better Tomorrow,” the course stressed the importance of starting with “listening to others.” Participants were encouraged to embrace diversity, understand differences, and use their inner strength, faith and action to build a society of peace and dignity.

In her opening address, SGM Kaho Group committee leader Dr Angela Ng emphasised the shift to genuine dialogue: “This is no longer an era of ‘I speak, you listen,’ but one of ‘What do you think? How do you feel?’” She encouraged participants to engage in sincere dialogue and learn and grow through appreciating the differences and experiences of others.

SGM women’s division general leader May Chan urged leaders to cherish the learning experience, embrace President Ikeda’s spirit, and return to their communities with gratitude and renewed determination.

Highlights: Talent and Transformation

The vibrancy of the training peaked during Kaho Got Talent on the second evening, which drew an audience of about 1,100 Kaho leaders, women’s division members and friends. Eight lively performances showcased the creativity of women, while three Kaho members shared moving experiences of overcoming illness, depression and loss through faith – demonstrating that “winter always turns to spring.”

On the final day, six Kaho leaders from various states shared their stories of transforming their lives through prayer and action while confronting gruelling challenges such as familial discord and illness. These stories became wellsprings of resilience and hope showcasing the strength of women who create new possibilities through perseverance and faith.

A Vow to Build an Inclusive Future

In her closing address, SGM women’s division leader Chan Yin Kwan cited the spirit of Bodhisattva Never Disparaging, urging leaders to recognise differences, understand diversity and practise self-transformation by respecting every life. SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai sent a message praising the Kaho leaders’ perseverance, affirming that the power of women is the treasure of the organisation, a radiant sun illuminating society through faith and wisdom.

The Kaho leaders nationally pledged to advance towards 2026 with a shared vow to listen, embrace, and transform, committing to build a sustainable and inclusive future through reading, faith and sincere dialogue.
