High School Division Course Counselling Guides Students on Future Pathways

The SGM high school division (HSD) course counselling was held online on 29 March 2026, bringing together some 180 students and their guardians. The session aimed to guide students considering their next steps after secondary school.

SGM education committee member Tan How Kian delivered a talk on the purpose of higher education, encouraging students not to focus solely on academic results, but strive to create value in their own lives and of others.

Chew Yan Herng shared his experience of challenging academic and financial challenges while studying overseas.

In concluding, SGM education committee leader Dr Wendy Yee stressed that education goes beyond knowledge and skills, highlighting the importance of developing critical thinking and judgement. She encouraged students to start from issues they genuinely care about as a basis for action.

This was followed by breakout discussions, where participants engaged in dialogue with professionals from various fields to gain deeper insights into different career paths.
