GKL Vanguard Group Holds General Meeting, Promoting Friendship and Peace through Cultural Engagement

On 15 March 2026, the Greater Kuala Lumpur (GKL) Vanguard Group general meeting was held at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM (WKSGM), with 92 members from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan participating.

In welcoming the participants, GKL Vanguard Group committee leader Yap Wai Wai stated that the group is committed to advancing peace, culture and education, and encouraged members to use arts and culture as a bridge to foster mutual understanding and strengthen human connections.

Vicky Ho Pei Ying, SGM Arts and Exhibition Department head, introduced the 2026 exhibition plans and encouraged members to make full use of the platform by inviting family and friends to visit WKSGM, thereby expanding the reach and impact of SGM’s culture initiatives.

In her closing remarks, SGM women’s division leader Chan Yin Kwan emphasised that SGM’s culture activities and its broader mission of outreach are inseparable in practice. She called on participants to lead by example through sincerely and enthusiastically inviting more people to take part in arts and culture events, contributing to the happiness of humanity and the promotion of peace in society.

After the meeting, young men’s division member Chua Zhen An shared that art and culture can bridge divides between people and serve as a vital force for achieving peace. First-time participant and young women’s division member Yu Kelly also expressed her intention to actively promote exhibition visits and cultural exchange activities moving forward.
