Blue Wave of Peace Sweeps Kuantan with 1,900 Participants
The Pahang leg of Run for Peace 2025, organised by SGM Pahang, took place on 7 September 2025 at SJKC Kuang Hwa in Kuantan, with YB Lee Chin Chen, Deputy Speaker of the Pahang State Assembly, officiating the event.
In his speech, YB Lee stressed that peace begins within each person, and the empathy and respect that they foster for others will benefit the family, community and the nation, leading eventually to a harmonious future of unity. This message struck a chord with the crowd.
Amid light rain, the 1,900 participants persevered in completing the five-kilometre run flagged off by YB Lee at 7:30 a.m.
Beyond the finish line, participants enjoyed activities showcasing practical SDGs initiatives, such as making eco mudballs and the Seeds of Hope and Action exhibition. Children also had fun playing various games while youth performances enlivened the atmosphere.
Participants across generations ran together, creating a symbolic blue wave of peace, with the day ending in smiles and heartfelt exchanges. While the Run has ended, the spirit of the event lives on, reminding us that every step taken carries the promise of a more peaceful tomorrow.
