The Labuan Run for Peace was held on 7 September 2025 at Labuan International School, drawing some 600 participants. The 3.5-kilometre run was flagged off at 6:30 a.m. by Labuan International School principal Puan Fadlin Aimuni.
Organised by SGM Sabah and supported by various bodies such as the Ministry of National Unity, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the United Nations (UN) in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, Run for Peace aims to promote awareness of peace, unity and sustainability, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Several activities were also held on-site, including an SDGs-themed exhibition made with recycled materials, a face-painting booth and a lively zumba warm-up session. Performances by Labuan International School students, featuring choir singing and traditional dance, brought energy and cultural vibrancy to the event.
An early morning rain stopped just in time for the run, leaving participants with a cool and refreshing atmosphere. The event also showcased unity, as people from different backgrounds and ages came together in the spirit of “one step for peace.”
The run concluded joyfully, with participants engaging at the booths, taking commemorative photos and sharing their reflections.
