“Year of Vibrant Growth for a Youthful Soka Gakkai Worldwide” Members General Meetings Held Nationwide
Reflecting on the Victorious Year while Advancing towards Vibrant Youth

In January and February 2026, SGM members held “Year of Vibrant Growth for a Youthful Soka Gakkai Worldwide” general meetings nationwide. They gathered to share victory reports from the previous year and confirm directions and goals for 2026. With hope and dynamism, participants made fresh departures for kosen-rufu and developing youth.

Members of New Village Chapter’s Kim Chuan District in Selangor held their general meeting on 14 January, where they studied New Year’s messages by Soka Gakkai president Minoru Harada and SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai, and encouraged each other to engage in shakubuku and expand kosen-rufu. Women’s division member Tan Jia Xuan shared how mustering the courage to participate in the Youth Peace Culture Festival (YPCF) helped her overcome her introverted nature and build confidence that enabled her to grow through successive challenges. Participants vowed to create new history, building upon efforts to promote peace from last year.

The Sabah Kota Kinabalu South Region general meeting on 16 January saw new member Cheng Siew Yun sharing how since embracing faith last year, she has experienced great happiness and strengthened her conviction in the power of the Gohonzon, resolving to share Buddhism with those around her. District women’s division leader Helena Chang Set Yun encouraged all present to uphold firm faith in the Mystic Law, as it will transform any suffering into happiness. By persevering to the end, she said, we can attain a life of absolute happiness.

On 19 January, Melaka’s Cheng Ho Chapter held its general meeting at the state culture centre. Chapter women’s division vice-leader Hee Sooi Ngoh, women’s division member Tan Suan Hoon, and young men’s division member Tan Jian Yuan shared the challenges and growth they experienced while preparing for the YPCF. Representatives from the four divisions also expressed their New Year determinations, stating that the chapter would unite in spirit to challenge shakubuku efforts wholeheartedly in the year ahead.

Shatin Chapter in Perak also held its meeting on this day, with three members sharing experiences on challenging shakubuku, inspiring those present to take courageous first steps in dialogue. Chapter women’s division leader Koh Boon Eng and vice-leader Hee Yoke Ann introduced the SGM activities direction and “My Challenge Card,” encouraging participants to set clear goals and take concrete action.

The next day, 20 January, saw Johor’s Kempas Chapter holding its general meeting in a joyful and hope-filled atmosphere, where each member was encouraged to challenge the shakubuku of one youth and achieve personal growth through dedicating themselves to kosen-rufu.

On 22 January, Rasah Jaya Chapter in Negeri Sembilan held its general meeting at the state culture centre. The Tam family’s sharing about their participation in the YPCF was particularly moving. Eighteen years ago, father Tam Tak Foo took part in another culture festival; now his son Lawrence Tam and daughter Renee Tam performed on stage for the first time. The children shared that, thanks to the enthusiasm and encouragement of fellow members, they became more courageous and resilient, deeply experiencing the meaning of faith and spiritual inheritance.

On 8 February, Kuala Lumpur’s Bangsar Chapter held its general meeting at the Kuala Lumpur Member Service Centre, encouraging members to become “people of action, people of prayer, and people of compassion,” and together build an organisation filled with joyful dynamism. Two members shared how, through faith and human revolution, they overcame trials in work, finances, family and health, ultimately welcoming spring-like victories.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of President Ikeda’s first visit to Asia. Members nationwide have made fresh determinations, united in spirit, to achieve the shared goal of the 8,000-youth shakubuku by 3 May.
