1,000 Runners in Kelantan Open the Curtains on Run for Peace
SGM Kelantan held its Run for Peace event at SMK Zainab (1) in Kota Bharu on 5 September 2025 with 1,000 peace lovers participating. Kelantan Youth and Sports Department (JBSNK) director Mohd Saipuddin Zakaria flagged off the runners at 7:20 a.m.
In his speech, Mr Mohd Saipuddin said that peace and sustainable development can only be achieved through the joint efforts of everyone, and that social organisations play a vital role. He also concurred with the philosophy of the Soka Gakkai, which emphasises that peace starts with each individual.
When interviewed, a runner said that he has participated in every event since Run for Peace was first held in Kelantan in 2013, and that he will continue to run in future events.
In conjunction with the run, a series of side activities were carried out, such as recycling workshops and the Seeds of Hope and Action (SoHA) exhibition, enabling participants to learn more about peace and the SDGs.
Also present were JBSNK deputy director (sports) Hazri Nizam, Kota Bharu district education office officer Haji Shamsul Bahari and SMK Zainab (1) principal Mdm Anawiyah Abu Samah.
