President Ikeda, who single-handedly steered the Soka Gakkai after the passing of Mr Toda, was inaugurated as third Soka Gakkai president on 3 May 1960. His diary entry the day after the inauguration reads: “Honing my vision for the next four years, until the beginning of the seventh year of my mentor’s passing.
