The following excerpt features SGI President Daisaku Ikeda discussing the “Dharani” (26th) chapter of the Lotus Sutra with leaders of the Soka Gakkai study department.
President Ikeda: The Daishonin flatly states in The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, “Dharani here means Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.” (OTT, pg 183) He continues, “This is because dharani represents the secret words of the Buddhas.” (ibid.) He is saying that it is a secret language that only Buddhas understand.
