			On February 24 and 25, 2010 a delegation from Soka University Japan (SUJ) visited three Malaysian universities. Heading the delegation was SUJ President Prof Dr Hideo Yamamoto. The others in the delegation were Prof Tatsuka Toda of the Faculty of Engineering, Assoc Prof Victor Kuwabara of the Faculty of Education and Mr Hiroki Shimoide, the Administrative Director of International Affairs Office.

SGM Johor has been entrusted with the task of administering the funds for the &ldquo;SMART Partnership&rdquo; programme and for overseeing the distribution of financial aid, books, stationeries and uniforms to needy students.

The event was organised by Yayasan Bakti Khidmat Masyarakat Malaysia (YBKMM) and held at SJKC On Pong II, in Ampang. A total of 210 students, including 20 children from Tadika Seri Soka received aid in the form of school stationery and bags. Orchestral and lion dance performance by SGM&rsquo;s Galaxy Chamber Orchestra Junior violinists and Martial Art Troupe respectively, enlivened the atmosphere of the ceremony. The ceremony was conducted in two sessions, one in the morning, and another in the afternoon. Around 313 parents, children, and TSS teachers attended the memorable ceremony.

			On January 16, 2010, SGM Selangor participated in a &ldquo;Gotong-royong&rdquo; (clean-up) at Jalan Berangan, Klang. A total of 20 members took part in the community event organised by the Klang Municipal Council in partnership with Panasonic Malaysia. The event was organised to bring the community together to clean up the Jalan Berangan area which has recently been categorised as a &ldquo;Clean Zone&rdquo; by the municipal. In his opening speech at the event, Menteri Besar of Selangor, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim urged the community to practise good hygiene habits and to take the lead in caring for their living environment.

			Forty theatrical posters were displayed at the Wisma Kebudayaan SGM from December 13 to 20, 2009. Coming all the way from the Slovak Republic, the posters were artworks of designers, photographers and scenographers since the 1950s. 
			</p>

			On hand to open the exhibition was H.E Milan Lajčiak, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic. He pointed out that the designing of posters in Slovak Republic flourished prolifically after World War II.

			SGM and the Cao Tang Men Eastern Arts Society Malaysia jointly organised an exhibition featuring Chen Chuan Xi, Cheah Thien Soong, Feng Jun Hu at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM from November 1 to 8, 2009. On hand to officiate the exhibition was Dr Hou Kok Chung, Deputy Minister of Higher Education. In his speech, Dr Hou mentioned that SGM has become an important art centre in the city, giving a much needed calm and respite to stressed-out city-dwellers whose lives were constantly moving about too quickly.

			On November 1, 2009, the Perak State Government organised &ldquo;1Malaysia&rdquo; Deepavali celebration at the Buntong New Village in Ipoh and invited SGM Perak to present contemporary and Chinese dances. Although the weather condition was not good, the 14 SGM Perak youth members put up a spirited performance in front of a thousand people. Other items presented were songs and traditional dances from different cultures. The guest of honour for the evening was the Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

This was their first attempt to compete against 40 lion dance teams from throughout Malaysia.

			An exhibition of large paintings by Malaysian and Singaporean artists was held at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM from November 22 to 29, 2009. Entitled &quot;Exploring the Boundary - An Exhibition of Large Scale Painting 2009,&quot; the show was organised by Cape of Good Hope Art Gallery and SGM. On hand to open the show was His Excellency Mr T Jasudasen, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore.

			On November 7, 2009, a total of 80 representatives from SGM Kedah participated in the &quot;Senam Seni 1Malaysia&quot; (Mass Aerobics) promoted by the State Culture Department. The event drew over 800 participants. Besides aerobics, there were dances of the three main races, drum art, wushu, exhibition and food stalls. The director of the Culture Department and the town councilors were among those present.

			On November 28, 2009, the International Conference Hall at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM was turned into a packed, lively lecture hall full of warmth and joy, despite the topic being a serious one touching on death and diseases. Chaired by Dr Amir Farid Isahak, the Chairman of Interfaith Spiritual Fellowship (INSAF), Prof Dr Christopher Boey Chiong Meng, a professor at the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya delivered a lecture entitled &quot;Creating A Century of Life: The Significance of Mind-Body Interaction.&quot;
