Public Lecture by History Professor

December 28, 2002, Kuala Lumpur: Soka Gakkai Malaysia and the Centre for Malaysian Chinese Studies co-organised a public lecture at the International Conference hall of Wisma Kebudayaan SGM. Renowned Malaysian historian Emeritus Prof Dato' Khoo Kay Kim delivered a lecture entitled ‘Ethnic Polarisation in Malaysia: History and Background'. The lecture traced the ethnic polarisation in Malaysia from a historical perspective. The discussion that ensued enabled the participants to gain a better perspective and understanding about ethnic relations in the country.

Prof Dato' Khoo was formerly the head of History Department at the Universiti Malaya. In 2001, he was awarded the title of Emeritus Professor for his contributions to the History Department of Universiti Malaysia. An acknowledged authority on Malaysian history, he has often been invited to present papers at national and international conferences.
