“From a Culture of Violence to a Culture of Peace: Transforming the Human Spirit”

“Peace does not descent from heaven, but it needs the co-operation of the people to create it. It is hoped that the people would have undivided responsibility to achieve and maintain it,” said Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamed Hasan, the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan during the launch of the exhibition “From a Culture of Violence to a Culture of Peace: Transforming the Human Spirit,” jointly organised by the SGM Negeri Sembilan Branch and the Municipal Council of Seremban. He also pointed out that Malaysians should treasure peace in the country, as people in war-torn countries would not understand what peace is about. The Menteri Besar also commended SGI for its important role in promoting peace at the world stage.

Among those present at the launching ceremony were representatives from the State government, town council and local community. A total of 300 people were present.

The exhibition was held from April 8 to 11, 2008 at the Seremban Municipal Council Hall and attracted about 4,000 spectators. The exhibition was then moved to Port Dickson, Bahau and other towns in the state to enable the general public in particular the young to understand the threat of nuclear weapons and the importance of preserving peace.
