The "Stretch Your Imagination" joint exhibition comprising of 100 contemporary artists from Malaysia and Singapore was held at the Wisma Kebudayaan SGM, Kuala Lumpur from March 8 to 15, 2009. This exhibition was the brainchild of art critic Becky Choong, and co-organised by SGM and the Impression Arts Centre and supported by City Art Gallery.
On hand to officiate the opening was Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, Minister of Transport who expressed his admiration for the organisers’ ability to put up such a challenging show. He also said that art is a friend indeed during such hard times. Later a catalogue by Becky Choong detailing her critique of these artists and works was also launched by the minister.
Living in a multi-cultured and multi-racial society, these artists – their ages and background ranging widely – have responded individually to beauty and changes in their immediate surroundings and painted in as many styles, making the show a true feast for the eyes.
