"Seeds of Change" Exhibition at Melaka State Library

From May 27 through June 1, 2008, "Seeds of Change: The Earth Charter and Human Potential" exhibition was held at the Melaka Public State Library (Perpustam) at Jalan Bukit Baru. The exhibition was co-organised by SGM Melaka and Perpustam.

The exhibition was declared open by Perpustam Vice Chairman Datuk Abd. Aziz Abd. Ghani. In his speech, he stressed the importance of the relationship between human and environment and praised the voluntary spirit of the SGM members in preparing for this exhibition. SGM Melaka Chairman Sheow Gee Eng said, she hoped that through this exhibition more people in society will come to understand the goals of the organization for peace, and that every individual can play a part in contributing towards world peace.

A 20-minute environmental documentary "A Quiet Revolution", which combines key environmental challenges facing humanity with inspiring case studies of individuals was shown. This was followed by a multiracial dance performed by the SGM Melaka youth members.

On the same day, SGM Melaka donated 110 books on the subjects of peace, culture and education in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese language to the Melaka State Library. Among the books donated, were those authored by SGI President Ikeda including his dialogues with world thinkers Choose Life (with Arnold Toynbee), Global Civilization- A Buddhist- Islamic Dialogue (with Majid Tehranian), compilation of his university addresses A New Humanism, and compilation of his essays on world figures Wonderful Encounters and Pertemuan Indah.
