SGM Penang Organises Health Awareness

On January 13, 2008, SGM Penang and Malaysia Red Crescent Society co-organised a Health Awareness Seminar with the topic “Early Detection – The Path to Cure” at the SGM Penang Culture Centre in Bukit Tambun. The talk was sponsored by Parkway Health from Singapore.

The speakers were Dr Ang Peng Tiam, consultant medical oncologist from Mount Elizabeth Hospital Singapore, Dr Eugene Sim, consultant cardiothoracic & vascular surgeon and Dr James Tan, consultant urologist from the Gleneagles Medical Centre, Singapore.

The seminar received overwhelming response from the public. It has attracted around 700 people. Free inspection of blood pressure service and professional consultation were provided on the spot.

On the same day, a blood donation drive was also held at the centre in support of the Bukit Mertajam Hospital’s blood donation campaign. The drive attracted 80 donors.
