SGM Selangor martial arts troupe was invited by the organising committee for the Sungai Pelek Lunar New Year Celebrations to perform the dragon and lion dance on the evening of February 2, 2008. The event was graced by Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Dato Wong Kam Hoong.

SGM Penang was invited to participate in the “Lunar New Year Cultural Festival” in Penang on February 16, 2008. Jointly organised by the state government and the Chinese Clan Associations, a total of 12 organisations took part in the festival, with each group presenting one of the major Chinese cultural or festive celebrations such as Spring Festival, Chap Goh Mei, All Souls Day, The 7th Week Event, Chong Yuan Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. SGM Penang presented the Mid-Autumn Festival. Besides a dance performance, there was introduction of the history of the Mid-Autumn Festival, quiz, making of lanterns, tea culture and sales of moon cakes.

Perak
SGM Perak youth performed two traditional Chinese dances during a Lunar New Year celebration held at the Ipoh Square in Perak. The Regent of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah officiated the opening ceremony. Among the highlights of the evening was a lion dance from Muar and performances by popular artistes. Over 5,000 people attended the show.
