The Chinese Society of SMK Mahsuri, in Langkawi, Kedah organised the Mooncake Festival celebration on September 11, 2008. Ten youth members of SGM Kedah were invited to present gymnastics and callisthenics for an audience of about 300 teachers and students. On the same evening, the SGM Kedah youth in Alor Star were invited by the welfare organisations of Taman Berjaya and Taman Sentosa residents to put up a gymnastics display item in their Mooncake Festival celebrations.

In the Muar District in Johor, a coalition of Chinese youth organisations held the Mooncake culture festival” on September 15, 2008. SGM Johor members were invited to join a multi-cultural welcoming troupe, which included drum performances of different cultural traditions. SGM Johor’s kompang and the Indian drummers groups complemented the lions and dragon dances in welcoming the arrival of the guests. The event was jointly organised by 24 Chinese youth organisations in the Muar District with the help of the Chung Hua High School, Muar.
