Chinese Youth Delegation Visits SGM

On February 24, 2008, a delegation of seven persons from the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) paid a courtesy visit to SGM, accompanied by three representatives from the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports. The Chinese delegation was led by Liu Kewei, Deputy Secretary-General of ACYF. On hand to welcome the group was SGM General Director Choo Kong Fei, SGM Youth Leaders Siew Choon Fatt and Vice-Youth Leader Tan Set Nee, and several youth division representatives.

During the brief two hour visit, participants exchanged views on various topics including youth volunteerism, the training and fostering of youth. The Chinese delegation also briefly toured the SGM Culture Centre and Tadika Seri Soka.

The ACYF is an organisation founded in 1949 that represents many youth groups in China, notably including the Communist Youth League of China. Current Chinese president Hu Jintao and former president Jiang Zemin were once members of ACYF.
