| “Back to Nature” Art Exhibition |
Held from September 21 to 28, 2008, the exhibition “Back to Nature” featured a total of 127 pieces of superb and exquisite artworks by 14 artists from China and 11 from Malaysia.
Hailing from Tieling, the Chinese artists fielded artworks consisting of fine line paintings. This style of painting, origination from Tieling, Liao Ning, China began in the 1960s or ‘70s, adopted skills from western art in the usage of light and shadow, perspective, dimension and other elements, unique for its innovations, emphasis on giving impact to viewers and outstanding craftsmanship.
Even when the subject was as common as a common house cat, one could marvel at the meticulous brush strokes in evoking the rich abundant flow of its fur from the tip of the ears down to the end of its tail – all the time maintaining the feeling of softness and cuddliness of the lovely creature.
Apart from other animals such as chickens, dogs or birds, there were paintings of tigers, herons and eagles, many in large sizes. A spectacular piece featuring six eagles - with wildly fluffing feather - perching or landing on a nest atop a high cliff measured a few metres long – an appropriate size to capture and convey the cold and severe weather these birds of prey had to bear.
In conjunction with the exhibition, an art talk conducted by Chang Ce, Committee Member of China Fine Line Association and President of Liao Ning Tieling Artists Association and an exchange demonstration were held later. |
