| ArTriangle ‘08 |
For the second time SGM and the Matahati art group is organising Artriangle at the Wisma Kebudayaan SGM, with participating artists from Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore. Again, great diversity was the guarantee here, making for a captivating and compelling eye-opener. The exhibition was held from July 20 to 27, 2008, opened by Mr Angela Hijjas from Rimbun Dahan.
Although only fifty-six paintings by fifty-four artists were showcased, they were all freshly created for the current exhibition and many were in large in sizes, affording a high degree of details within, giving us a strong impact. One was prepared to be delighted, intrigued, shocked or saddened by the controversial and striking works.
Once could also find superb charcoal drawings, magnificent ultra-realistic painting of a water filter, almost colourless painting of Raja Petra in detention, human figures riding dolphins, red riding hood, flowers that look like metal coils, sculpture with overflowing intestines, pig-nosed man and drinks fit for kings.
Artriangle aspires to energise a four-way art dialogue between the nations and add more excitement to the art scene in South East Asia, strengthening the relationship. It also aims to raise funds for the welfare of artists in times of need besides initiating art projects and activities.
