“The Art of Giving Exhibition” was organised by SGM and the AsiaWorks Foundation (AWF) from November 2 to 9, 2008 at the Wisma Kebudayaan SGM. It was declared opened by the Tengku Panglima DiRaja Selangor, Tengku Sulaiman Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah on November 2, 2008.

The exhibition was organised with the purpose of providing funding and support for community, voluntary groups, homes and orphanages in Malaysia. The exhibition brought together 33 participating artists including Azhar Idris, Shukor Yahya, Asmawi Ismail, Jaafar Taib, Patrick Lasak, Apollo Hui, Marcus Low and others. Several amateur artists also exhibited their works. The concept for this exhibition came about with the belief that in art, everyone is equal and the possibilities are endless.

A total of around 100 pieces of collective artworks comprising of oil, acrylic, watercolour paintings, photography and sculpture were showcased, displaying a wide variety of subjects and treatment.

AWF is a non-profit charitable organisation. Through the foundation, its members who consist of graduates of the AsiaWorks Leadership Training programme, hope to contribute towards a world of equality, opportunity and infinite possibility.
