SGM Sarawak Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Kosen-rufu Movement

SGM Sarawak celebrated the 30th anniversary of Sarawak kosen-rufu movement on December 11, 2011 at the Kuching Kenyalang Theatre, Kuching.

The event was attended by about 1,000 members from all over the state as well as visiting members from Kuala Lumpur, Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.

SGM Sarawak chairman Tan Chai Hong said in his speech that the event was a celebration of the effort of pioneering members in carrying out their kosen-rufu movement in the state.

He said it was also a celebration of the youth of today, who will be leading the journey of the state's kosen-rufu movement in the future.

The celebration saw numerous performances from the members, including singing and dancing by members of the Junior Division, Youth Division and culture groups.

A video featuring the 30-year history of kosen-rufu in Sarawak was also shown. It was a trip down memory lane as the video detailed how pioneering members started their journey in introducing people to Nichiren Buddhism.

A pioneer member, Sally Lim from Kuching and SGM Vice General Director Wan Foong Chin from Kuala Lumpur, also shared their experiences in faith with the audience.

The event ended with three songs including the significant "Forever Sensei" by a choir made up of members from SGM Sarawak.
