SGM Commemorates Soka Gakkai Founding Day at Nationwide State Representatives Meet
November 18, 2011 marked the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Soka Gakkai. From November 19 to 20, 2011, key leaders from all SGM state branches and SGM national leaders gathered at the SGM Culture Centre, Cheras to commemorate this day and to make earnest planning for SGM's advancement towards the year 2030.
The SGI theme for 2012 is "The Year of Developing a Youthful SGI". Based on this theme, SGM leaders gathered here conducted intensive discussions on how to build an ever-youthful SGM for the years ahead.
Beginning 2011, SGM has embarked on a series of 5-year plans spanning 20 years to advance towards 2030, the 100th anniversary of the Soka Gakkai. The strategic aim for the first five years (2011–2015) is to realise the "full-scale expansion of the organisation and foster capable successors who inherit the spirit of the oneness of mentor and disciple."
The key initiative towards achieving SGM's expansion aims will be the "role model of the oneness of mentor and disciple group" at the grassroots level of the organisation. The group is the basic organisational unit within SGM and the development of each group will be crucial towards the development of SGM as a whole.<
