SGM Youths Participate in Youth Engagement Programme

From November 9 to 13, 2011, three SGM Youth Division leaders, Jerrison Chai, Lee Yong Hwi and Chang Minzi, participated in the Inter-Civilisational Youth Engagement Programme (IYEP) 2011 at Shah's Village Hotel in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. This programme, the fifth in this series, was organised by the International Movement for a Just World (JUST) headed by Dr Chandra Muzaffar.

This programme, which was launched in 2007, aims to foster closer relationships between youths of different civilisational backgrounds and help them develop a closer understanding of global challenges and ways to face these challenges. It encourages youths to draw upon universal spiritual and moral values to help build a world based on justice, peace and harmony among peoples.

The theme for this year's IYEP is "Youth: How to Buy Back Our Future?" and focuses on debt, and not just monetary debt but also debt to the environment and relations debt. Participants studied materials related to the topics and then had discussions and presentations to share ideas on the theme.
