SGM Hibiscus Choir Holds Exchange with Local Choirs
On October 29, 2011, SGM Hibiscus Choir held a choir exchange meet with local choir groups at Chang Feng Hall of SGM Culture Centre, Cheras. The choir groups of the Parent-Teacher Association of Confucius Private Secondary School, Seremban Chung Hua Alumni Choir and Yuan Jue Choir of Tian Shang took part in the exchange.
In his welcoming speech, the leader of the SGM Hibiscus Choir, Mr Tan Teow Oei pointed out that songs can soothe people's feelings and stimulate their hearts. He also quoted from SGI President Ikeda, saying that songs and music are not bound by national boundaries just as religions are borderless. Moreover, he said music and song are important foundations of culture.
The audience enjoyed the rendering of songs by the singers, in groups or solo. Mr Chew Hock Peng, the organiser of the Seremban Chung Hua Alumni Choir also showed a recorded performance of a foreign soprano for them to enjoy and raise their standards of singing.
