Tadika Seri Soka 17th Graduation Ceremony
The 17th Graduation Ceremony of Tadika Seri Soka (TSS) was held at the Ikeda Peace Auditorium of the SGM Culture Centre on October 15, 2011. 167 children from five six-year-old classes graduated and an audience of approximately eight hundred people, including parents, family members and guests attended the event. Also present were Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Anuwar Ali, President and Vice-Chancellor of Open University Malaysia (OUM), his wife Puan Sri Eveline Anuwar, Datin Teh Raqamah, Director of the Corporate Relations Unit of OUM and Puan Kamariah Mohd Noor, Registrar of OUM.
TSS founder SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent his congratulatory message for the event and made three promises with the graduates. The children promised him to greet each other in high spirits, sleep early and wake up early and to read a lot of good books.
Mr Ikeda also presented gifts of his new story books entitled The Prince and the White Horse and smiley buns to the graduates.
The graduates proudly received their kindergarten certificates on stage. They also performed a musical presentation based on the story A Gift from the Meteor by Mr Ikeda with a message to cultivate big and beautiful hearts in the children.
The presentation was the children's report of their victory over challenges in the process of cultivating beautiful hearts, believing that the biggest secret of the universe lies in our hearts.
Impressed by the event, Puan Sri Eveline said, "I am really fortunate to be able to attend this graduation event. The children were happy and excellent! They have put up a wonderful presentation. They were so natural. I wish to thank them for sharing their "beautiful hearts" with me. I love the beautiful theme song and enjoyed the event." She also proposed that TSS share the preparation process with other kindergartens.
Datin Teh Raqamah praised SGM volunteers for their efforts and contribution behind the scenes. "I think SGM volunteers have beautiful hearts. That's the driving force for them to persevere in carrying out continuous community service."
Puan Kamariah Mohd Noor said, "I think OUM should consider adopting TSS as a ‘Tadika Angkat' so that teachers in the early childhood education programme can do their practical training here."
The graduation ceremony marked a new departure for the graduates on their journey towards new milestones in primary schools and the future.
