SGM Celebrates the 54th National Day and 48th Malaysia Day

Malaysia celebrated the 54th National Day and 48th Malaysia Day on September 16, 2011, which coincided with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations period.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “1Malaysia, Transformation Success, People’s Peace” and the celebration was held at the Merdeka Stadium, Kuala Lumpur. SGM Kuala Lumpur was invited to collaborate with other participants in presenting a “1Malaysia” dance performance.

The state government of Negeri Sembilan organised a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house and Malaysia Day celebration at the field of the Seremban Municipal Council. Several thousand people joined in the celebration. Eleven members of SGM Negeri Sembilan performed a Chinese dance, showcasing the youth’s contribution to nation-building.

SGM Perak was invited to present a gymnastics performance and rhythmic and modern dances to enliven the National Day celebration. At the same time, SGM Penang, SGM Melaka and SGM Pahang also participated in the National Day parades in their respective states. SGM Pahang paraded at the Kuantan Municipal Council ground and Dulai Square in Bentong, winning third prize in the marching segment for non-governmental organisations.
