SGM Melaka Organises Talk on Depression

On July 31, 2011, SGM Melaka invited Dr Tan Siew Mei of Putra Specialist Hospital, Melaka, to give a talk on depression. The talk was held at the SGM Melaka Culture Centre.

Dr Tan talked about health from the perspective of medical science and Buddhism. She said that everyone, irrespective of gender and age, can suffer from depression. The youngest sufferer in the country was only five years old. As the illness has no specific symptoms, family members should be caring towards each other so that early detection could be discovered and treatment given.

More than 180 people attended the lecture and participated in the following discussion.
