"Photo Impressionism" and "Transcending Boundaries to Glory" Exhibitions Held at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM

In an effort to enhance friendly exchanges on the art of photography between Malaysia and Hong Kong, SGM and the Photography Society of Malaysia have jointly-organised the exhibition "Photo Impressionism – A Photographic Exhibition by Leo Wong K.K." from July 9 to 24, 2011 at the Soka Exhibition Hall of Wisma Kebudayaan SGM.

Dr Leo Wong, 79, is a renowned salon photographer, presently holding the positions of Honorary President of the Photographic Society of Hong Kong, Honorary President of the Photographic Salon Exhibitor’s Association, Hong Kong and Senior Member of the British Royal Photography Association. Four-time winner of the first prize in the international salon competition, he is particularly skilled in taking landscape photography and is highly regarded among Chinese photographers.
On hand to officiate the opening ceremony on July 10, 2011 was Y.B. Senator Heng Seai Kie, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development. She hoped that the organisers would redouble their efforts to promote photography more actively and employ the power of culture to create a harmonious nation.
Each photograph in this collection represents Dr Wong’s personal response to the fleeting light and shade, attempting to capture the inner beauty of nature. He dedicated the series to young friends, hoping that they would one day experience first-hand the joy of commuting with nature through lenses.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Dr Wong also delivered an art talk on July 10, 2011 where he shared his wide experience in photography. Two photography workshops were also held on July 16 and 23, conducted by renowned Malaysian photographer Billion Lim.

| Transcending Boundaries to Glory – The Photographic Society of Malaysia (PSM) 55th Anniversary Exhibition |
During the same exhibition period, a photography exhibition entitled "Transcending Boundaries to Glory – The Photographic Society of Malaysia (PSM) 55th Anniversary Exhibition" was held at the SGM Exhibition Hall to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of PSM. PSM members exhibited 100 pieces of their works to celebrate the significant occasion.
