SGM Celebrates May 3

In May 2011, SGM members throughout the country celebrated May 3, Soka Gakkai Day, in high spirits, marking year 2011 as the year to embark towards the 100th anniversary of Soka Gakkai.

On May 15, 2011, SGM representatives throughout the country gathered at SGM Culture Centre to celebrate the anniversary and advance towards the establishment of a youthful organisation.

In her speech, SGM Women Division Leader Ow Yin Peng urged SGM members to return the prime point of faith and unite to spread kosen-rufu in Malaysia.

She quoted SGI President Ikeda who said that the succession of kosen-rufu has been transmitted to the disciples, whose time to be active on the front-lines has arrived. She stressed that besides being involved in kosen-rufu activities, we should also nurture young and capable future successors.

In his speech, SGM General Director Choo Kong Fei shared twelve important guidelines given by President Ikeda for SGI members to overcome their limitations and weaknesses and become outstanding leaders. Mr Choo also encouraged members to chant daimoku diligently and live with courage.

Mr Choo added that in this ever-changing world, we should use Buddhist wisdom to attain victory for ourselves and kosen-rufu, lest we be steered away from the correct path by the social changes and suffer failures in the end.
