SGM Johor Participates in Earth Day

The City Council of Johor Bahru initiated an awareness of environmental protection campaign to observe Earth Day on April 24, 2011 by organising a number of activities such as an eco-fashion competition, colouring contest, question-and-answer session on gardening, exhibitions and designing a "Wishing Tree."

Viewed by about 2,000 people, the event started off by a "Green Walk" race. The race was flagged off by State Executive Councillor Y.B. Tan Kok Hong, State Assembly Speaker Y.B. Dato’ Ali Hassan and Johor Bahru Mayor Tn. Haji Mohd Jaffar Bin Awang. Members of the SGM Johor Youth Division also presented a drum performance and the zapin, a traditional Malay dance. Members also exhibited intricate crafts made of recycled materials.
