Soka University Students Visit Tadika Seri Soka
On February 17, 2011, a group of 15 students from Soka University, Japan (SUJ) paid a visit to Tadika Seri Soka (TSS) to carry out exchange activities with the children.
Students from SUJ hold exchanges with overseas students every year with an objective to represent SGI President Ikeda, as the school’s founder, to meet, play and learn with the children. Sincerely trying to realise his educational ideologies and taking TSS students as friends in their second hometown, this is their tenth visit to TSS. Overcoming various barriers due to differences in languages, the SUJ students made friends with the children quickly. Under the theme of "Children, you are the hope of the future and the rainbow of peace," they played indoor games with them and presented cultural performances.
Apart from having an exchange with the teachers of TSS, the SUJ students also led the graduating TSS students on a study tour to the SGM Mentor and Disciple Peace Hall (MDPH) at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM on February 19, 2011.
SUJ student Nobuo Hamamura, currently studying in the Department of Education, said: "The founder of Soka University has been criticized and slandered within Japan. However, when I visited MDPH (9th floor) with the children, I was deeply impressed to know that Dr Ikeda is widely recognised by many people and universities around the world, outside of Japan. All his awards prove his efforts towards peace, education and culture, and that Soka value is shared all around the world. I am so happy and touched, and we, as student division members, again determine to study hard, and always forge ahead to protect our founder as best as we can."
