In December 2010, SGM Youth Division members held commemorative meets throughout the country to celebrate SGM Youth Division Day (SGM Youth Division day is on December 18). This year, the commemorative meets are held to adorn the 80th anniversary of Soka Gakkai’s founding and the 50th anniversary of SGI President Ikeda’s inauguration as the third president of Soka Gakkai.

Meetings were held at SGM centres throughout the nation, and youths gathered to study the Gosho, share experiences in faith and make fresh determination towards 2030, the 100th anniversary of Soka Gakkai’s establishment.

In conjunction with the 12.18 Youth Division Day, eighty SGM members in Tawau also held a mini cultural festival at the Tawau Promenade Hotel on December 26, 2010. About two hundred people watched the performance which included a sketch, dances by the Junior Division and Youth Division, and songs by the Women and Men Divisions. Finally, a gymnastics performance was staged.

Note: The SGM Youth Division was established on December 18, 1988. At the inaugural SGM Youth Division General Meeting held that year, 1600 youths from all over the nation attended this event.
