80th Anniversary Commemorative Meet Held

SGM leaders from all over Malaysia gathered at the SGM Culture Centre in Cheras for a meeting commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Soka Gakkai on December 5, 2010. This was held on the same day of the grand opening of the SGM Mentor and Disciple Peace Hall.


Kicking off the meet were culture performances from members of the Culture Group. Cast members of Human Revolution: The Musical from SGM Selangor also performed an excerpt of the musical that has been playing at the SGM Selangor Culture Centre since November 20, 2010. Members of the audience were visibly moved by the performances of the youth.

SGM General Director read out SGI President Ikeda’s congratulatory message to SGM. President Ikeda congratulated SGM members on the opening of the SGM Mentor and Disciple Peace Hall and the Mentor and Disciple Room, praising it as the establishment of the prime point of kosen-rufu for the East and the world. He also lauded SGM members as being "the role models of the oneness of mentor and disciple."


SGI General Director Mr Yoshitaka Oba, SGI Women’s Leader Mrs Kayoko Asano and SGM Women Division Leader Ow Yin Peng also presented speeches at this commemorative meet, urging SGM members to redouble their efforts to correctly walk the path of mentor and disciple. Also in attendance was SGI Deputy Women’s Leader Mrs Kimiyo Tajika and SGI South Asia Bureau Mr Leader Shinji Ushioda.
