Tadika Seri Soka (TSS) organised its first story telling day for parents and their children on October 30, 2010. The purpose is to encourage young children to read more good books and to get parents and children to read together. The event was held in response to SGI President Ikeda’s guidance to young children to read more books.
The kindergarten had invited teacher Wu Kwok Jiang to talk on picture books and its role in educating children. Mr. Wu graduated from the University of Malaya with a Master’s degree in Chinese Studies. He was a former principal of a kindergarten. He actively promotes story-telling among parents and their children and also had held training sessions on story-telling for teachers.
Other activities included a puppet show and a shadow play. A total of about 500 parents and their children participated in this event.
