This is the second joint exhibition between the renowned Klang Artists Society and SGM Selangor. This year saw the record-breaking participation of 35 artists, exhibiting more than 80 artworks in various mediums.
On hand to officiate the opening, Speaker and ADUN Sungai Pinang VB Teng Chang Khim was impressed by the overwhelming turnout at the ceremony. He hoped that the public would support the artists by collecting their works. Other guests present included Mr Lee Kee Seng, Chairman of the Klang Artists Society and Mr Tay Ai Tee, Chairman of Organising Committee.
SGM Selangor Chairman Johnny Ng stressed that in a world torn by political, ethnic and religious conflicts, only art has the power to unify, inspire, alleviate and heal. Artworks create new visions, relationships, paradigms and hope, encouraging us to look into ourselves and the world in new ways. A world without art would be intellectually and spiritually barren, he added, and the activity of creating art is an affirmation of life.
Around 1,000 visitors viewed the art exhibition held from September 4 to10, 2010. Additional activities held included a meet-and-greet session with artists after the opening ceremony, an art talk on September 10, 2010 by artist Mr Goh Boon Cheng on the “Appreciation of Oriental Arts” and a Batik Art Workshop hosted by artist Madam Ng Juat Wah.
