“Style of Ink” Touring Exhibition Held in Penang and Kedah

Cao Tang Men Eastern Arts Society and the SGM co-organised the “Style of Ink Touring Exhibition of Fan Calligraphy” in Penang and Kedah, the final two stops of the touring exhibition.

In Penang, the event took place for five days from August 6 to 10, 2010 at the SGM Penang Culture Centre. State Exco member Wong Hon Wai represented Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in officiating the opening ceremony. In charge of Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts, Mr Wong pointed out that art should be for the people. Besides the artists, the public should play a role in promoting art so as to uplift the ability of the people in appreciating art and culture.

Penang

Among the distinguished guests at the opening ceremony were the Vice-Chairman of SGM Penang, Tan Kar Bin; the President of Cao Tang Men Eastern Arts Society, Dr. Cheah Thien Soong; Advisor, Hon Peow; the President of Penang Art Society, Chng Huck Theng; Advisor, Dato’ Koh Wee Khian; the Advisor of the Photography Society of Penang, Song Jin Tek; famous artist, Ang Swee Hin and author Duola. The exhibition attracted about 500 visitors.

Thereafter, “The Style of Ink” arrived at SGM Kedah on August 20. The exhibition went on for three days and attracted about 1,200 visitors.

Kedah

Prior to Kedah and Penang, “Style of Ink” exhibition has toured six venues in the country including Johor Bahru, Melaka, Klang and Kuantan. Responses from the public at every stop were very encouraging.
