“The Seeds of Hope” exhibition was held at the Tunku Abdul Rahman University in Kampar from August 16 to August 21, 2010. The Minister of Housing and Local Government, Datuk Wira Chor Chee Heung was invited to declare it open on August 30.
Datuk Chor commended the students on their involvement in such activities as these events increased communication amongst people and enhanced their societal responsibility. Among the distinguished guests at the opening ceremony were the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Hou Kok Chung; Chairman of the Council of Tunku Abdul Rahman University, Tun Ling Liong Sik and former Member of Parliament for Kampar, Tan Sri Hew See Tong.
The exhibition was organised by the Department of Soft Skills Competency of the university and assisted by the SGM Perak. The exhibition was one of the activities launched by the Soft Skills Through New village Community Project, together with the launching of the UTAR New Village Community Project Webpage and the UTAR Student Services Webpage.
Divided into the Chinese and English sections, each having 24 exhibits, the exhibition urged the spectators to use three approaches of “Learning, Reflecting and Giving” in order to motivate people to change their attitudes in helping to overcome dangers faced by humanity.
The event attracted about 1200 teachers, students, government officials, principals of schools and village heads. They all felt that the content of the exhibition had high values which should be promoted to let the public know about the importance of peace and protection of the environment.
