SGM Celebrates 26th Anniversary

SGM was officially formed in 1984 following many years of discussions and efforts to unite and form a national organisation for kosen-rufu in Malaysia. In the last 26 years, the spirit of “many in body, one in mind” has been the bedrock of the development of kosen-rufu in Malaysia.

At the SGM Kuala Lumpur’s leaders general meeting commemorating SGM’s anniversary in SGM Culture Centre, Cheras, General Director Choo Kong Fei emphasised that the starting point of SGM is unity. He said, “Unity does not mean suppressing the individual. Through ‘many in body, one in mind,’ Nichiren Daishonin is teaching us the spirit of respecting the humanity of others. This is an organisational principle of the highest order which enables every person to fully manifest their potential.”

General Director Choo hopes each one will carry out human revolution, mutually respect one another, enabling each person to bring forth their highest potential – thus realising the expectations of President Ikeda as embodied in his eternal guidelines for SGM – “to create a magnificent human castle of the world’s foremost unity.”

In respective states, the SGM’s 26th anniversary was celebrated either through commemorative gongyo meetings and district discussion meetings. The meetings focused on sharing the spirit of pioneering members and the spirit of oneness of mentor disciple, especially among the youth division, to ensure that this noble spirit will be embodied in the organisation for posterity.
