From May 30 to June 6, 2010, an exhibition entitled “The 40th Taiwanese Travelling Exhibition for the International Children's Painting” was held at the SGM Selangor Culture Centre, Klang. The exhibition featured 150 paintings by children from 54 countries. The exhibition was co-organised by SGM Selangor, Association of Artists of Klang, National Taiwan Arts Education Centre, Association for Education through Art, and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia.
Through art and cultural exchanges, the organisers hoped to deepen friendship, strengthen collaboration and further the mutual understanding of the cultures of different people in order to build a beautiful world of mutual love and glory. Featuring a wide range of subject matters from 54 countries, the paintings were submitted by children from countries such as Chile, Guatemala, Solomon Islands and Israel. The children’s works attests to their innocence and sensitivities, their abundant creativity and unadulterated way of looking at the world they live in.

On hand to officiate the opening was Teng Chang Khim, Speaker of Selangor State Legislative Assembly. In his speech, he lauded the organisers’ efforts in persevering in exhibiting the artworks for the 40th time, one of oldest travelling exhibitions. He also mentioned that the country cannot focus on industrialisation and economic gains at the expense of the spiritual growth of the people. As such, he felt that exhibitions such as the one being organised will further develop the art scene and contribute to enriching the lives of Malaysians.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a series of art talks during the exhibition period were also held on topics such as the trends of post modernism art education and Malaysia children art, an introduction to aesthetic education and the connection between life and art.
