Furthering the efforts of second president of Soka Gakkai Josei Toda to abolish nuclear weapons, condemned as "an absolute evil" that threatens people’s dignity and right to live, SGM and the Professional Rotaract Club of UCTI co-organized the exhibition "From A Culture of Violence to A Culture of Peace: Transforming the Human Spirit" and video presentations at the Foyer of UCTI, Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil from May 25 to 27, 2010.
On hand to open the exhibition was Datuk Prof. Mohd Yusof Kasim, Vice Chancellor, UCTI while the Rotary Club was represented by Mr Frederick Tan, International Service Director and Organising Chairman. SGM was represented by Council member Janice Chay and Head of Public Relations Department, Katherine Chui. The exhibition was viewed by over 200 people. Members of the UCTI Rotaract Club were also present to promote the exhibition to viewers, mainly foreign students from various countries around the world.
In his speech, Prof. Mohd Yusof Kasim, lauded the exhibition and emphasised that peace should not be thought of only in the physical aspects but also the mental aspects. As such, he continued, it was important to learn how to create peace in our own mind first before bringing it to our friends, community and the world as a whole. “That’s why, love, respect and helping each other as one big family is very important,” he added.

UCTI student Thato Moradu from Botswana, Africa, found his life “changed” after viewing the exhibition. “I have grown internally,” he said, “my world view on peace has widened. I now know that silent violence is the most dangerous of all.” Realising he should not enjoy comfort while his fellow brothers and sisters are struggling to find human security, he is determined to suggest to the United Nations to hold similar educational exhibitions when he goes home later. Multimedia computing student Frederick Tan saw hope in the powerful messages coming from displays of good deeds and cooperation to solve issues.
