There has been resounding response to SGI President Ikeda’s Children Animation Series, broadcast by ntv7 during the December school holidays. The series convey love, dreams and hope. Entitled "Like Me, Like You: The World in Your Heart", the series was aired for 30 minutes on four consecutive Saturdays from December 5 to 26, 2009. Dubbed in Cantonese with Malay subtitle, the four stories were "The Prince and the Coral Sea", "Rainbow Mountain", "The Princess of the Desert Kingdom" and "Kanta and the Deer".
The cartoon series left audience with deep impressions. The principal of a kindergarten said, "The series taught us how to treat people with consideration". A Standard Three pupil said, "I learn how to care for the environment".
President Ikeda’s stories describe the pure world of children and the beauty of human character. He hopes that through these stories, children can cultivate the seeds of justice, courage and hope in their lives.
President Ikeda’s creations have been broadcast in 23 countries, including India, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Panama, Iceland, Spain and Australia, where they received acclaims. In 2005, the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children's Television presented SGI President Ikeda with its Anak TV Broadcasters' Award. The Anak TV Broadcasters' Award is the highest honour give by Philippine broadcasters for significant contributions by individuals to the betterment of Philippine broadcasting, especially for children's programs.
Sin Chew Daily (December 10, 2009) and Kwong Wah Daily (December 11 & 12, 2009) published an interview with the SGI President Ikeda, in which he talked about his purpose for writing the children stories series as well as his reminiscence of his younger days working as an editor of children’s magazine in his mentor, Josei Toda’s publishing firm.
