In celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Sino-Malaysia diplomatic relations, Soka Gakkai Malaysia, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, Malaysia-China Friendship Association, Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Guangzhou People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries have jointly organised an art exhibition entitled "Guangzhou Art Sensation: An Exhibition by Renowned Guangzhou Artists" at the Wisma Kebudayaan SGM from December 13 to 27, 2009.

Known widely as "the first port of Silk Road by sea," Guangzhou, situated in the southern part of China, is a culture city dating back 2000 years. Frequent contacts with foreign countries and the merger of different cultures have formed its unique culture.

On hand to open the exhibition on December 13, 2009 was Dr Hou Kok Chung, Deputy Minister of Higher Education. He pointed out the importance of art in going beyond national boundaries to bind the peoples’ hearts and going as far as to influence the progress of our political situation. The 6 participating artists - Chen Yongkang, Chen Yongqiang, Lu Yanguang, Zhou Guocheng, Qu Guangan and Fang Tu – are eminent artists from Guangzhou. In conjunction with this exhibition which ended on December 27, 2009, a Chinese ink painting workshop was also carried out.
