From December 10 to 11, 2009, SGM Kedah organised a two-day Junior Division Graduation Camp and Ceremony at the SGM Kedah Culture Centre, Alor Star. The camp’s programme was centred on the theme “Is pursuing our goals important?” and aimed to instil the importance of goal-setting and to encourage the participants to attain their goals through strengthening their Buddhist practice.
Through a series of games and Buddhist study sessions, the participants learned more about the importance of setting goals. Other than that, a health talk during the camp enabled the boys and girls to learn basic first aid and personal hygiene.
The graduating primary school children (twelve-year olds) shared their impression and resolution during their “graduation ceremony.” They resolved to work harder in secondary school, and to apply President Ikeda’s guidance in their daily lives. The ceremony was enlivened by the cultural performances from the children.
The Junior Division members gained an invaluable understanding of having a goal in life through the camp. The camp has also instilled them with greater confidence for the challenges in secondary school.
