On November 1, 2009, the Perak State Government organised “1Malaysia” Deepavali celebration at the Buntong New Village in Ipoh and invited SGM Perak to present contemporary and Chinese dances. Although the weather condition was not good, the 14 SGM Perak youth members put up a spirited performance in front of a thousand people. Other items presented were songs and traditional dances from different cultures. The guest of honour for the evening was the Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
