SGM Johor was invited to perform at the official opening of the Chinese Heritage Museum of Johor Bahru on October 3, 2009. The Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman was the guest of honour. The heritage museum, located at Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, displays more than 300 pieces of cultural relics and more than a thousand documents which records the historical and cultural development of Johor Bahru. The cultural performances for the opening ceremony were divided into four acts and SGM Johor was in charged of the first act. The act describes the contribution of the Chinese community in Johor in the 19th century.
On October 31, SGM Johor was invited to perform at the Danga Bay Police Station Official Hand-over Ceremony. Danga Bay is the largest recreational park in the city of Johor Bahru. The police station is unique and has a homely atmosphere, and is one of Danga Bay’s eight traditional Malay houses built to represent all the districts in the state of Johor. SGM Johor youth presented a dance with the theme “Celebrating 1Malaysia,” a lion dance and also performed Kompang to welcome the guest of honour. The official hand-over to the police was witnessed by Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein. Also present were the Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Sharif and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar.
