Tadika Seri Soka Holds Camp for Graduating Children

A total of 178 six-year-old children from TSS took part in a two-day camp at the kindergarten on July 24 and 25, 2009. The camp is an annual event for children who were graduating from TSS at the end of the year.

In preparing the children for their night away from their family, teachers have been teaching the children some basic skills such as folding and spreading their bed sheets. Some of the children were timid and were worried they would not adapt to the camp environment. Teachers and parents worked together to encourage these children, allaying their fears and explaining to them the purpose of the camp.

The children had great fun participating in the numerous activities designed for the camp. Aside from learning to be independent, the children learned to work together as a team. The highlight of the camp was undoubtedly the "campfire" on the night of July 24, where the children wore the traditional costumes of different countries. Through this activity, they learn to respect and appreciate different cultures.

The next morning, the children visited the Fire Station at Taman Segar, Cheras to learn more about the function of the fire department.
