SGM Penang Participates in Relay For Life
– Fighting Cancer Together 2009

Three teams comprising 30 members from SGM Penang participated in the fifth Relay for Life event at Penang’s Youth Park on March 14 and 15, 2009. They were among the 3,000 people who came together for this fundraising event organised by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia.

Participants walked around the “Hope Relay Circuit” for 16 hours non-stop, symbolising the on-going fight against cancer. SGM participants collected a total of RM4,626.00 which they donated to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, Penang Branch.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng opened the event by flagging off the first lap, walked by around 100 cancer survivors. The participants were urged to relay the message of hope and disseminate practical advice to ensure that as many people as possible avoid or survive cancer.

This is the third time SGM Penang has participated in the Relay For Life event.
