Press Releases: SGM Donates to Malaysian Red Crescent Society In Aid of Myanmar Earthquake Victims

On 25 March 2011, a severe magnitude 6.8 earthquake happened to Myanmar, which caused major disaster and the sacrifice of many lives. Based on the humanistic spirit of the Buddhist compassion to share the people’s suffering, on 9 June 2011, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) presented a donation collected among its members nationwide amounting to RM 90,000 to Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) in aid of Myanmar Earthquake Victims. The event is held at Malaysian Red Crescent Society Headquarters (32, Jalan Nipah off Jalan Ampang, KL) at 11:00am.

SGM represented by Ms Katherine Chui, Women’s leader of SGM presented the cheque to Yang Berbahagia Datuk Dr. Noordin B. Abd Razak, National Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Malaysian Red Crescent Society. The donation will be utilized for re-habitation programme in Myanmar. The donation presentation was witnessed by Mr. Chia Kok Peng from SGM Public Relations Department and Encik Muhamad Shamsul B. Ibrahim, communications officer from MRCS.
